Gimpy

It had been rainy all day, so I knew we wouldn't get to ride. I didn't care, though; I'd had a bad day and wanted nothing more than to be in the barn.

I strode in, and Ms. Wilson asked me if I'd received "the" email about Fancy.

"No...?" I responded, wrinkling my eyebrows in confusion.

"Well, Fancy's lame."

My heart sank. I tried thinking of everything that could've happened; maybe she picked up a stone in the ring (although she shouldn't have since we just cleaned it yesterday) or accidentally kicked the fence (I didn't know which leg was acting up.).

Ms. Wilson told me that Fancy had been pacing a lot, up and down the fence, and that that probably caused her strained off-fore leg. Hmmm...pacing...that's what she does when she's not with another horse. But apparently there are no other horses that can be with Fancy, so I'm not sure how to solve the problem.

So then I'm told to wash Fancy's leg with cold water for 15 minutes. I look at her leg as I'm washing it, and in the cannon bone area, where the grooves are supposed to be, there were no grooves. That's how bad the swelling was.

Following the wash came a leg wrap on top of a towel. Apparently, the towel goes under the wrap to provide cushion so that the blood circulation isn't cut off.

Anyway, that's all for today. I'm kinda frustrated about this whole thing; Fancy'll probably be out for a couple weeks.
