First Trail Ride

Wow, today was even better than yesterday!

Once I had Fancy saddled, I saw the other riders in a semicircle around Ms. Wilson. That meant only one thing; trail ride!

So I was placed with Jess on Pumpkin and Sami Jo on Chance. We headed off, breathing in the mountain air. The weather was so perfect; there wasn't a single cloud in the sky, and the air was just cool enough to make my nose tingle every time I tested the decadent scents of the forest.

I could tell that Fancy was enjoying herself. She'd calmed down and was more responsive to my aids. I couldn't help but smile.

The first trail we rode on took us up behind the football field where a practice play was being executed and cross country runners were circling the players on the track.

The second trail began by descending the valley between two fields. We wove and climbed and had a great time enjoying the beautiful nature around us.

When we finally turned in at 5:21, I felt renewed, as did Fancy. She was already back to the docile horse I'd always known, the one that didn't freak out or skitter. I have a feeling that she's already getting used to this place.

I can't imagine a better day than today. However, I'm still optimistic about tomorrow's ride and anticipate it as usual. It's been wonderful having my girl with me.

Once Fancy was freed in the ring I walked away and turned to look at her once more, catching the image of her beauty, a perfect conclusion to a perfect day.
