Finally, I have some good news to share! Upon arriving at the barn this afternoon, Ms. Wilson told me she just found out about a barrel race occurring Saturday of this week. Unfortunately, this weekend is Comeback Weekend, and we have Saturday classes as well since we just returned from Spring Break. My chances of going don't look that great, but I sure as heck will try! I just need permission from Ms. Wall...did I mention that my chances aren't so hot?
Anyway, if I do get to go, Fancy only needs some fine-tuning this week. She may not have been ridden for two weeks, but my mom and I have fine-tuned our horses only a few days before a big race after leaving them sitting around for weeks at a time. Fancy may be older, but she's fit and up to it.
All I know is that Ms. Wall had better say yes to letting me go, because I've hated sitting around and doing nothing but non-stop training for this entire year. And the one barrel race I went to in the fall got rained out. What luck! Fancy and I have been working too hard to not get this rare chance; we deserve it.
