Today I spent about a half hour or more searching online; I figured that, since the new year is almost here, all the event calendars of 2009 would be posted online.
I was right. However, as I typed in North Carolina for the state search on www.NBHA.com, the list came up empty. Not one barrel race in the state. It goes to show you my luck.
So I typed in the names of all the states around North Carolina, and I came up with nothing less than a 3 and 1/2 hour drive to Tennessee within the time frame I was looking for.
Then I searched Google, desperate to find even a glimmer of hope, but all that turned up were breeding farms that trained barrel horses but did not actually host barrel races.
Mom told me not to worry, assuring me that Ms. Wilson has a list of local events. Well, to all you people in North Carolina who are hosting events, post them online for crying out loud! I mean, really, you can go to http://www.bravenet.com/ and create an awesome website for free. And if you don't know how to webmaster, ask your friends. You are bound to have at least one who knows the basics. So what if you have a white screen and black Times New Roman text? As long as it's somewhat organized and includes dates and an address, it's golden!
So anyway, after lamenting in a blog that no one reads, not even my mother, I feel better. Thank you, air, for listening.

Rose,
I do read your blog from time to time - it's just that I really don't care for blogs because it takes an extra effort to find the URL, try to figure out what I've read/not read and then pick up from there. I'm glad to hear Fancy is doing better. Sorry to hear there aren't many barrel racing opportunities. All our best to you, Patti & Andrew
